Partner No 11: Imos geateh, Planners and Engineers The Imos geateh, Planners and Engineers, Company, was established in 2002 from two partner companies (dating in 1992) to meet growing market needs for regulatory analysis, environmental assessment, wastewater and solid waste management services throughout Slovenia. Today Imos GeaTeh provides a wide range of consultancy services, to both, private and public sector clients, in close collaboration with selected companies and experts in the environmental arena. Through the network of contacts Imos GeaTeh provides support to established companies in the CEE region, while contributing to the business development from its scope of technical know-how in EIA, wastewater treatment, solid waste management, ambience quality and regulations. The management of complex projects and backstopping of the international companies has become one of the core business activities of Imos GeaTeh. It has been successfully realised on the several occasions, specifically in the framework of Phare. Imos GeaTeh consists of multi-disciplinary scientific and engineering staff, numbering 10 professionals. In addition to all the key engineering disciplines, the company has a group of environmental specialists. Imos GeaTeh has been leading the working groups activity related to the preparation of the planning on Sava River regarding water quality and supports the Slovenian Ministry of the Environment in environmental assessment of the remediation of past waste burdens. Application tools include economic analysis such as cost-benefit analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis, environmental valuation, strategic environmental impact assessment, integrated environmental-economic modelling, risk analysis, stakeholder mediations/moderation techniques, life cycle assessment, geographical information systems, institutional analysis. Role and contribution to the proposal: In relation to the Sava River Basin: Sustainable Use, Management and Protection of Resources, proposal, Imos GeaTeh will develop methods and techniques which rely on an integrated 'applicable science' involving engineering, natural and social sciences background. The role of decision supporting will provide a significant facilitation component to the project. The action plan that is being devised and implemented aims to ensure that project development pressures, consequences and policy responses in and around Sava catchment are lined with sustainable development principles. Specific role in the working group consists of the following elements: - Revision of the proposal from the user point of view- Sava Power Utility; - Adjustment of the tools and methods applied for riparian countries involved in regard to their differences; - Inventory of the water and sediment status from the source to the border: review of the data, measures and selection of the parameters; - Contribution to the integrated database regarding: organisation, structure, quality and significance of data. - Measures for sustainable resource use, from the point of view observed data. - Cost-benefit analysis of measured parameters Imos GeaTeh Key Personnel: Zoran Stojič is Director of Imos GeaTeh and a consultant in Environmental Engineering. He is an Sanitation Engineer with masters degree from IHE Delft, The Netherlands. Stojič specialises in environmental economics, catchment management and environmental impact assessment. He has authored over 16 articles and has been consultant to a number of Government departments, international and national agencies. Within his work he has worked with economists and social scientists contributing to interdisciplinary work on the EU ENWAP project. Tadej Zupančič has a BSc in Chemistry technology from Ljubljana University. He is managing projects like Environmental impact reports and assessments, Environmental audits, drinking water protection and regional development projects. As a technical expert, he is actively involved in wastewater consultancy (General public plans for sewage system and waste water treatment), waste management (for example: technical assistance for the Ministry – Sanitation program for the hazardous waste Metava landfill), development and implementation of municipal waste management systems and remediation of illegal landfills. Hi is also an expert in financing municipal infrastructure, including packaging and procurement of the infrastructure projects. Natalija Vrhunc has Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, University of Amsterdam, and Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences and Policy, Central European University, Budapest. During her professional practice she has got experiences in environmental impact assessment of various projects, addressing also the social issues, as public participation. The latter includes also the ability of facilitation of workshops for public and other stakeholders. References 1.
